A healthy, confident smile is more than just an aesthetic asset—it is a crucial part of your overall well-being. When damaged, decayed or missing teeth affect your oral health and self-esteem, restorative dentistry can transform your smile and improve your quality of life. Whether you need to repair a single tooth or restore an entire section of your mouth, restorative dental treatments can help you regain function, prevent further dental problems and restore your confidence.

At our practice, we offer a variety of restorative options to suit your needs, including dentures, crowns, bridges, implants, fillings, inlays and onlays. Since we have talked a lot about dentures already, today we are exploring how each of the rest of our restorative treatments can positively impact your smile and your daily life.

Crowns: Strengthening and Protecting Your Pearly Whites

Dental crowns are custom-made restorations that cover and protect a damaged or weakened tooth. If you have a tooth with significant decay, a large filling, or a crack;  a crown restores its structure and prevents further damage. Crowns are designed to match your natural teeth, providing both durability and an aesthetically pleasing result. With a properly placed crown, you can chew comfortably, speak clearly and smile again with confidence.

Bridges: Replacing Missing Teeth for a Complete Smile

A dental bridge is an effective solution for replacing one or more missing teeth. By anchoring to adjacent teeth or dental implants, a bridge fills the gap left by missing teeth, restoring both function and appearance. Missing teeth can lead to shifting, bite misalignment and difficulty chewing. A bridge not only restores your smile’s symmetry but also prevents further dental issues by maintaining the proper positioning of your remaining teeth.

Implants: A Permanent Tooth Replacement Solution

Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth because they function just like natural teeth. A titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as an artificial root that supports a custom-made crown. Implants provide unparalleled stability, preventing bone loss and preserving the structure of your face. Unlike other tooth replacement options, implants are designed to last a lifetime with proper care. If you want a long-lasting, natural-looking solution for missing teeth, implants may be the perfect choice.

Fillings: Repairing Cavities and Restoring Strength

Cavities are a common dental concern, but they do not have to lead to extensive tooth damage. Dental fillings restore decayed teeth by sealing cavities and preventing further deterioration. We use tooth-colored composite fillings that blend seamlessly with your natural enamel, ensuring a discreet and durable restoration. With a filling in place, your tooth remains strong, functional and free from decay progression.

Inlays and Onlays: A Conservative Approach to Tooth Restoration

For teeth that need more than a filling but do not require a full crown, inlays and onlays offer a conservative yet effective solution. Inlays restore damage within the grooves of a tooth, while onlays extend over one or more of the tooth’s cusps. These restorations are custom-made for a precise fit, strengthening the tooth while preserving as much natural structure as possible. Inlays and onlays are crafted from durable materials like porcelain or composite resin, ensuring long-lasting results.

Transform Your Smile with Restorative Dentistry

No matter the dental challenge you are facing, restorative dentistry can help you reclaim a healthy, functional and beautiful smile. These treatments not only enhance the way your teeth look but also contribute to better oral health, improved speech and greater self-assurance. If you have damaged, decayed or missing teeth, now is the time to explore your options. Contact Denver Restorative Dentistry today to schedule a consultation and take the first step toward a confident new smile!

Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing and restoring the functionality of teeth. However, in recent years, there has been a significant overlap with cosmetic dentistry, which aims to improve the aesthetics of a smile. The benefits of cosmetic dentistry treatments extend beyond mere appearance; they often enhance the function and longevity of your teeth. Here, we will explore three popular cosmetic dentistry treatments—dental veneers, dental bonding and teeth whitening—and how they can help restore your smile’s appearance.

The Magic of Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are crafted as thin, wafer-like shells designed to boost the front surface of your teeth. They are most commonly crafted from porcelain or resin composite materials. Veneers are an excellent solution for a variety of dental issues, including:

  • Discolored Teeth: Teeth that are severely stained or discolored and do not respond well to whitening treatments can benefit from veneers. The material used for veneers is stain-resistant and can provide a natural, bright appearance.
  • Worn Down Teeth: Veneers can protect teeth that have been worn down by providing a durable, protective covering.
  • Chipped or Broken Teeth: Veneers can cover up chips and cracks, giving your teeth a smooth, consistent and perfect appearance
  • Misaligned or Irregularly Shaped Teeth: Veneers can create an even, symmetrical smile by addressing minor misalignments or irregular shapes.

By addressing these issues, dental veneers not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your smile but also contribute to better oral health by protecting damaged teeth.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding involves applying a tooth-colored resin material to the teeth. This material is then hardened with a special light, bonding it to the tooth. Dental bonding can effectively restore the appearance of your smile by:

  • Repairing Decayed Teeth: The composite resin used in bonding can fill cavities and restore decayed teeth to their natural appearance.
  • Fixing Chipped or Cracked Teeth: Bonding can repair minor chips and cracks, providing a seamless look.
  • Improving the Shape of Teeth: Bonding can be used to alter the shape of teeth, making them look longer or closing unsightly gaps between teeth.
  • Covering Discoloration: For teeth that are discolored, bonding can cover up the stains, providing a brighter smile.

Dental bonding is a cost-effective and minimally invasive treatment that can make significant improvements to the appearance of your teeth, boosting your confidence and overall oral health.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments. It involves bleaching your teeth to make them look lighter. This treatment can:

  • Remove Stains: Teeth can become stained from various foods, drinks and habits like smoking. Professional teeth whitening can effectively remove these stains and restore the natural color of your teeth.
  • Enhance Your Smile: A whiter smile can significantly improve your overall appearance, making you look younger and more vibrant.
  • Boost Confidence: Having a brighter, whiter smile can increase your confidence and make you feel more comfortable in social and professional settings.

Professional teeth whitening treatments are safe and can produce dramatic results quickly, helping you achieve a dazzling smile to wow the world around you.

Conclusion

Cosmetic dentistry treatments like dental veneers, dental bonding and teeth whitening offer numerous benefits beyond just improving the appearance of your smile. They can restore the functionality and health of your teeth, boost your confidence and enhance your overall quality of life.

Practicing preventive dental care is one of the most crucial goals to maintain good oral health and prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease from invading your smile. Dental problems can be painful, costly, and time-consuming to treat, so it is essential to take preventative measures to keep your pearly whites and gums as healthy as possible. Here are some tips on how to practice preventive dental care for a healthier, more beautiful smile!

Preventative Dental Care Tips

1 – Brush your teeth every single day. One of the most important steps you can take to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease is to brush your teeth daily without fail. A good rule of thumb is brushing your teeth twice a day (for at least two minutes each session). Use a fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean your teeth and gums.

2 – Floss at least once a day. Flossing is yet another essential part of practicing preventive dental care. It helps to clear away dental plaque and food particles between teeth and along your gum line. There are many flossing options available to you, so be sure to find one that works best for you and then do it!

3 – Limit sweet and acidic foods and beverages. Sugary and acidic foods and drinks can erode tooth enamel and lead to cavities and tooth decay. You want to limit your intake of these items, such as candy, soda, and citrus fruits, take the time to brush your teeth or rinse your mouth with water afterward to remove any lingering sugar or acid.

4 – See our prosthodontists regularly. Routine dental checkups are essential to maintaining good oral health and preventing dental problems. Our skilled prosthodontists can detect early signs of tooth decay and periodontal disease and recommend treatment before the problems worsen. They can also clean your teeth and remove any plaque or tartar buildup, which can otherwise leave you facing tooth decay and gum disease.

5 – Rinse with mouthwash. Mouthwash is another useful tool for preventing tooth decay and gum disease. It can help kill bacteria and freshen your breath to complement your daily flossing and brushing. A good choice of mouthwash is one that contains fluoride and antimicrobial agents and use it as recommended.

6 – Kick the smoking habit. Smoking leads to a host of dental problems, including tooth decay, gum disease and oral cancer. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your oral and overall health!.

Practicing preventive dental care is essential to maintaining good oral health and preventing tooth decay and periodontal disease. Our prosthodontists, Drs. Goggins, Aguirre, Pitz, Poineal and Chertok are here to help you learn proper oral health care to implement at home. We actively promote the importance of preventive care in Broomfield, Colorado. The busy holiday season is upon us, and with the year almost over, it’s also time to use (or lose) those insurance benefits to get your smile in great shape for the new year ahead. Our premier prosthodontic dental practice doesn’t just offer transformative dental restorations, we also offer cosmetic dentistry options for your smile. Our Denver Restorative Dentistry team offers the following cosmetic services to complete your smile and allow you to look your best in those holiday photos!

Our goal is to always give you individualized treatment tailored to your needs so that you can be proud of your smile. Our cosmetic dentistry options are targeted to correct those cosmetic imperfections in your teeth, like cracks and chips, gaps and spaces, discoloration, misalignment and even misshaped, worn teeth. At the same time, we use a conservative approach without sacrificing results. So if you are unhappy or self-conscious about your smile, consider the following options that can give you the smile you want.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding corrects unsightly flaws in your smile the most conservatively. This is a non-invasive treatment our prosthodontists have been using to create aesthetically pleasing smiles that will make you enjoy looking into a mirror. This tooth-transforming magic is done by placing a tooth-colored composite resin right onto the tooth structure and is shaped and sculpted to fit your tooth and fix any flaws in the way the tooth looks. To complete the process, the resin is hardened and then trimmed and polished to give you a long-lasting, appealing cosmetic restoration for your smile. Another benefit is that it takes only one comfortable and fairly quick visit to do. Before you know it, tooth gaps or spaces are closed, the teeth are shaped attractively, stains are lightened stained and chipped or cracked teeth are repaired.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are thin waferlike shells made from porcelain or resin that are bonded to the front teeth to bring out their flawless-looking beauty. We can transform your teeth using these custom-crafted veneers for either one tooth, several or all of them! The beauty of veneers is that they can be used to close gaps and tooth spaces, brighten stained (or discolored) teeth, and even straighten how uneven teeth appear. We can also fix teeth that are a bit curved or twisted so they look so much more attractive.

If you have been thinking about making changes to your smile, there’s no time like the present. Our prosthodontists, Drs. Goggins, Aguirre, Pitz, Poineal and Chertok, are excited to help you get a healthy, fully functional, aesthetically pleasing smile in Broomfield, Colorado that you will be proud to show off. Call 303-586-1019 to learn more!

At Denver Restorative Dentistry in Broomfield, Colorado, our prosthodontists are pleased to provide our patients with the latest in technological advances for quality dental restorations and a healthier smile. Drs. Goggins, Aguirre, Pitz, Poineal and Chertok can give you the dental care you deserve as comfortably as possible with restorations that can last for years to come.

-Cone beam 3D technology (CBCT): This imaging system creates a three-dimensional image reconstruction of your teeth, mouth, jaw, neck, ears, nose and throat that allows our doctors to accurately evaluate and diagnose your dental issue and come up with an effective treatment plan. This technology offers a complete image reconstruction, even better than digital X-rays.

-Intraoral camera: This tiny, minimally invasive camera allows us to zoom in on all the various areas of your mouth to take high-definition photos. Easy to maneuver and comfortable for you, an intraoral camera can show our prosthodontists the angles in your mouth that are not normally detectible with the naked eye. This advanced dental tool allows us to precisely assess your dental health while detecting damaged teeth and periodontal disease. We can show you the photos as well as sharing with other dental specialists as needed.

-Dental impressions: Traditional dental impressions can often feel uncomfortable, especially for those with a sensitive gag reflex, but at Denver Restorative Dentistry, our experienced team has the technology to capture accurate impressions of your teeth while ensuring your comfort. While our goal is to take various impressions that will allow us to restore your smile with a crown or dentures, we may use digital impressions to accurately measure your mouth. These are quick, easy and comfortable for you while getting the information we need to create your dental restoration, without using goopy materials to create a mold.

-Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing, or CAD/CAM: This amazing technology helps our prosthodontists and master dental lab technicians create dental restorations using this advanced computer system. Our team can then mill the restoration in our Zirkonzahn 3D milling machine. Whether you need veneers, crowns, bridges or full hybrid arches, this state-of-the-art software and equipment allow us to give you precise and life-like detail.in your dental restoration.

Taking good care of your smile means practicing good oral hygiene habits daily and visiting your dentist regularly for cleanings and exams. This goes a long way to lower your risk of tooth decay and gum disease. However, your mouth is still vulnerable to harm from traumatic injury and disease. For example, certain treatments for oral cancer may mean undergoing a full mouth reconstruction to replace missing teeth along with restoring missing structures of one’s oral cavity.

Our experienced prosthodontists can offer you options allowing you to once again have full functionality of your mouth with beneficial aesthetics so you look (and feel your) best. A full-mouth reconstruction expertly fixes damage to your mouth, including severe decay that leaves you needing to replace multiple teeth or even all of them. This is done carefully, combining esthetics and the science of restorative dentistry to give you your life back with a healthy, beautiful and fully functioning mouth again.

Who Benefits From Full Mouth Reconstruction

If you have multiple missing teeth, teeth with large dental fillings that are now failing or showing further decay, have cracked or broken teeth or badly eroded teeth from habitual bruxism, where you constantly grind your teeth together (typically from stress).

Patients who were born with medical conditions like Ectodermal Dysplasia, Ameliogenesis or Dentinogenisis Imperfecta, often turn to help for extensive restoration of their teeth. A full mouth reconstruction can often give them the smile they need and desire. This might mean using onlays, crowns, bridges, veneers, dental implants, and/or dentures that will give them a “smile makeover” while also enhancing their chewing efficiency.

After a thorough evaluation by our prosthodontists, you might be a good candidate for full-mouth reconstruction to restore your oral health. Damaged teeth, tooth decay, dental infection and periodontal disease (advanced gum disease) may be the reason you may want to look into full mouth reconstruction. View full mouth reconstruction photos from previously satisfied patients.

Complimentary Consultation

Our prosthodontists, Drs. Goggins, Aguirre, Pitz, Poineal and Chertok are experts that have performed many full-mouth reconstructions between them. They know exactly what your smile needs to look and feel great so you can smile with confidence. When you schedule your FREE consultation with our Denver Restorative Dentistry team in Broomfield, Colorado, we will evaluate your smile’s current state and recommend the best treatment to boost your overall smile needs. Whether you need a combination of bridges, crowns, dental implants, veneers, fillings or dentures, we’ve got your smile covered! Call 303-586-1019 today!

June is here and that means national Oral Health Month is too! This is a great time to focus on taking better care of your pearly whites and your gums so you can have many years of healthier smiles to show off. According to the American Dental Association, dental health has come a long way since 5,000 years ago when the first known recorded dentist, Egyptian Hesi-Res took care of people’s teeth!

Dental History

-As recently as the 17th century, white enamel was starting to be used on the teeth and nitrous oxide was used to help people relax while getting dental care as comfortably as possible.

-Long before Covid-19, the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 19th century made personal protective equipment PPE a thing for dental healthcare professionals.

-And if you like reclining while your mouth is being worked on, you can thank the American dentist, Josiah Flagg, for creating the first dental chair as we know it, complete with extended armrests that held medical instruments and even an adjustable headrest.

-While the 1800s saw the beginning of toothpaste in tubes, commercial floss arrived in 1882, and in 1960, electric toothbrushes also became a thing here in the states.

Daily Dental Care

Your mouth needs daily attention because while your body can heal itself your teeth can’t! And if your teeth are in poor health, that means your body won’t be far behind because weak or missing teeth can’t properly get the nutrients you need from the food you eat. Fresh fruit and veggies and chewy meats, all need strong teeth to bite, chew and eat properly. Strong tooth roots, supported gum tissue and healthy bone all work together to keep your teeth and body healthy.

Were you aware that flossing, along with daily brushing can prolong your life expectancy by up to six years? Flossing helps get rid of harmful dental plaque and tartar so it doesn’t spread throughout your body. And while brushing is crucial, flossing helps keep your mouth healthier while protecting against heart disease, oral cancers, Alzheimer’s, kidney failure and diabetes by cleaning in between teeth and below the gum line to get rid of harmful bacteria.

Smiling With Confidence

If you’re proud of your healthy smile, show it off! You can smile without embarrassment and share your oral hygiene tips with those you love! If you have issues with your smile, now is the time to take care of them before they get worse. We are happy

Getting Dental Work

To help keep your smile in tip-top shape, be sure to visit our dentists for routine dental cleanings and exams and if problems are spotted, address them as soon as possible to prevent further damage.
