If you have ever wished for a brighter, straighter, more symmetrical smile, dental veneers might be exactly what you need. Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made coverings that are bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. Whether you are dealing with worn tooth enamel, discoloration, uneven spacing or chipped teeth, veneers offer a natural-looking solution. Here is what you can expect before, during and after treatment.

Step One: The Initial Consultation

Every smile transformation begins with a personalized consultation. This is your chance to talk with our prosthodontists about what you would like to improve—be it color, shape or alignment. We will examine your teeth, review your medical and dental history and determine whether veneers are the most appropriate option for your smile goals.

Digital scans or impressions are typically taken during this visit to help plan your new smile. One of our experienced prosthodontists will also evaluate your enamel to make sure it is strong enough to support veneers. In some cases, you may need to treat issues like gum disease or cavities before moving forward.

You will also choose between different veneer materials. Porcelain veneers are known for their strength and resistance to stains, while composite resin veneers can be applied more quickly and tend to cost less.

Step Two: Tooth Preparation and Temporary Veneers

Once you are approved for treatment, the next stage involves preparing your teeth. This usually means removing a very thin layer of enamel to allow room for the veneer to sit flush with your natural teeth. This step ensures a seamless, comfortable fit and a more natural-looking appearance.

After preparation, our prosthodontists will take precise impressions and send them to our trusted dental lab, where your custom veneers are crafted. While you wait for the final set, you will wear temporary veneers to protect your teeth and give you an idea of your upcoming transformation.

Step Three: Veneer Placement and Final Touches

When your veneers are ready, you will return to the office for bonding. Our prosthodontist will first check the fit and appearance of each veneer, making adjustments as needed for symmetry and shade. Once everything looks perfect, the veneers are securely attached to your teeth using a specialized bonding agent and light-curing process.

The result? A durable, radiant smile that looks natural and feels like your own.

Step Four: Life with Veneers and Ongoing Care

After placement, there is little to no recovery time. Most patients resume normal eating and speaking almost immediately. However, taking care of your veneers is essential to make them last.

Here is how to protect your new smile:

  • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste
  • Floss daily and maintain regular dental visits
  • Avoid chewing hard objects or using your teeth as tools
  • Minimize exposure to stain-causing foods and drinks (especially with resin veneers)

With good oral hygiene and routine dental care, porcelain veneers can last over a decade, while composite options generally last between five to seven years.

Ready for a Smile Upgrade?

By understanding the full process—from consultation to daily care—you can approach the experience with confidence. The busy holiday season is upon us, and with the year almost over, it’s also time to use (or lose) those insurance benefits to get your smile in great shape for the new year ahead. Our premier prosthodontic dental practice doesn’t just offer transformative dental restorations, we also offer cosmetic dentistry options for your smile. Our Denver Restorative Dentistry team offers the following cosmetic services to complete your smile and allow you to look your best in those holiday photos!

Our goal is to always give you individualized treatment tailored to your needs so that you can be proud of your smile. Our cosmetic dentistry options are targeted to correct those cosmetic imperfections in your teeth, like cracks and chips, gaps and spaces, discoloration, misalignment and even misshaped, worn teeth. At the same time, we use a conservative approach without sacrificing results. So if you are unhappy or self-conscious about your smile, consider the following options that can give you the smile you want.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding corrects unsightly flaws in your smile the most conservatively. This is a non-invasive treatment our prosthodontists have been using to create aesthetically pleasing smiles that will make you enjoy looking into a mirror. This tooth-transforming magic is done by placing a tooth-colored composite resin right onto the tooth structure and is shaped and sculpted to fit your tooth and fix any flaws in the way the tooth looks. To complete the process, the resin is hardened and then trimmed and polished to give you a long-lasting, appealing cosmetic restoration for your smile. Another benefit is that it takes only one comfortable and fairly quick visit to do. Before you know it, tooth gaps or spaces are closed, the teeth are shaped attractively, stains are lightened stained and chipped or cracked teeth are repaired.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are thin waferlike shells made from porcelain or resin that are bonded to the front teeth to bring out their flawless-looking beauty. We can transform your teeth using these custom-crafted veneers for either one tooth, several or all of them! The beauty of veneers is that they can be used to close gaps and tooth spaces, brighten stained (or discolored) teeth, and even straighten how uneven teeth appear. We can also fix teeth that are a bit curved or twisted so they look so much more attractive.

If you have been thinking about making changes to your smile, there’s no time like the present. Our prosthodontists, Drs. Goggins, Aguirre, Pitz, Poineal and Chertok, are excited to help you get a healthy, fully functional, aesthetically pleasing smile in Broomfield, Colorado that you will be proud to show off. Call 303-586-1019 to learn more!

Even the most severe cases of dental staining can typically be improved by having Dr. Taylor Goggins administer a dental bleaching treatment. However, this could leave a noticeable contrast between your professionally whitened tooth enamel and any old dental fillings that appear in your smile. This effect could also be compounded if your teeth have chips and minor dental fractures.

In a case such as this Dr. Taylor Goggins might recommend installing a porcelain dental veneer onto each tooth that appears in your smile. The special dental grade porcelain can be shaded to perfectly mimic the white appearance of natural tooth enamel.

If a tooth has been significantly altered by a physical defect, or it has very shallow tooth enamel, Dr. Taylor Goggins might recommend restoring it with a porcelain dental crown. This will completely replace the original tooth enamel layer with the same dental porcelain used for your dental veneers.

A second appointment will be needed once the dental lab has completed the dental veneers and any necessary dental crowns. Dr. Taylor Goggins will then cement the dental work into place with a strong dental adhesive.

If you live in the Broomfield, Colorado, area and your smile need cosmetic restoration, you should call 303-586-1019 to set up a consultation appointment at Denver Restorative Dentistry.
