When it comes to your smile, our prosthodontists, Dr. Goggins, Dr. Aguirre, and Dr. Pitz, help patients like yourself every day to get the proper dental care you need and deserve. One of the ways we fix minor to moderate tooth damage is by using dental fillings or inlays and onlays, depending on the tooth. Do you know the difference between those three options?

Dental Fillings

You have probably already had a dental filling done before and it is one of our most common treatments for tooth issues caused by cavities, fractures or chips in a tooth. By placing a dental filling, our prosthodontists can restore your tooth’s original form and function so your smile can continue to thrive. At Denver Restorative Dentistry, we provide patients with a choice of either amalgam fillings or composite fillings. Both are excellent options for restoring damaged teeth.

When you come in for your dental filling treatment, you will be made comfortable so you can relax while we work. The treatment is done in just one visit to our office. First, we will remove any damaged and decayed areas of the tooth. Then we will clean the area so it is pristine and ready to be filled with your filling material of choice which will be contoured to your tooth’s shape so it can blend right in. Lastly, the filling fill is hardened so it can protect your tooth for many years to come!

Dental Inlays and Onlays

The other options we offer for tooth repairs are inlays and onlays. These are also great at fixing tooth damage and decay. Inlays and onlays are used when a tooth needs more protection than a filling can provide, but not as extensive as to require a dental crown. In fact, inlays and onlays are referred to as partial crowns and are crafted specifically to your tooth using either porcelain, composite resin or gold. Just as with fillings, our goal is to restore your natural tooth’s health, structure, function and looks. Inlays and onlays appear so natural that they are hardly noticeable. They also preserve the structure of your tooth. So when do you need an inlay versus an onlay? We will apply an inlay when the damage doesn’t extend to the cusp of the tooth, while an onlay is applied when there is cusp damage.

Don’t Delay, Call Today!

If you have one or more damaged teeth in your smile, we encourage you to get them evaluated and treated as soon as possible so that you can preserve the natural tooth. Losing a tooth to decay or injury is never fun, that’s why Denver Restorative Dentistry strives to help protect your teeth with dental cleanings and exams and root canal therapy to save a tooth when possible. But if you do lose a tooth or require extraction, it should be replaced with a dental restoration. Dental implants are a great way to make sure the jaw bone that supported the tooth stays healthy, preserving your facial structure and appearance so your smile looks great.

Our prosthodontists, Dr. Taylor Goggins, Dr. Brian Aguirre and Dr. Anna Pitz, and our team in Broomfield, Colorado offer dental implants for our patients who have lost teeth. As dental restorations go, they are one of the most stable tooth replacements out there since they are implanted in the jaw bone. Dental implants can replace one lost tooth, multiple teeth or even an entire arch.

Biocompatible, Sturdy and Long-Lasting

The dental implant post, or screw, is biocompatible with your mouth as it is made from titanium. It is surgically implanted into the missing tooth area, acting as a tooth root. Once the surgery site heals and the bone fuses to the screw you will have a stable, durable tooth replacement once the implant restoration is custom-fitted on top of the post. The result? You will have a natural-looking and feeling tooth that can last many years.

Our team of prosthodontists at Denver Restorative Dentistry has years of experience restoring smiles with dental implants and making sure your end result is perfect for you. As it looks, feels and functions just like the rest of your natural teeth so you can smile again with confidence. If you take care of your dental implant, it can last for a lifetime since the long term success rate is between 95-98 % easily outlasting traditional dentures and bridges that need upkeep and repairs and replacement.

Why Choose a Dental Implant

  • They are the only tooth replacement option that stabilizes the bone and surrounding teeth, preserving jaw bone from being lost over time.
  • Unlike bridges, they don’t involve altering the surrounding healthy teeth to hold them securely in place.
  • Unlike dentures that can severely damage surrounding teeth, bone, and soft tissue in the mouth over time, or shift around in the mouth, impacting your ability to chew, speak and even clean, your implant will stay securely put in your mouth.
  • Unlike dentures and bridges, dental implants don’t require extra maintenance.

As you can see, dental implants offer your smile long-lasting benefits! If you have one or more missing teeth, we invite you to check out our dental implant restorations. Just give our team a call at 303-586-1019 to schedule your complimentary consultation. You can also schedule your visit online. We look forward to helping you create a smile you can show off with confidence!
